SIGNING SESSION OF THE WORK PLAN RESULTS OF MARKING AND MEASURING THE JOINT BOUNDARY BETWEEN KEDAH STATE AND PERLIS STATE | 27 SEPTEMBER 2022

SESI MENANDATANGANI PELAN KERJA HASIL PENANDAAN DAN PENGUKURAN SEMPADAN BERSAMA ANTARA NEGERI KEDAH DAN NEGERI PERLIS | 27 SEPTEMBER 2022

The Joint Technical Committee Meeting (JBT) of the Joint Border Marking and Measurement Project between the State of Kedah and the State of Perlis took place on 27 September 2022 at Wisma Negeri, Alor Setar. This meeting also included a signing session of the work plan resulting from the marking and measurement of the joint border between the State of Kedah and the State of Perlis.

The signing session involved the JBT Chairman of the Joint Border Marking and Measurement Project between the State of Kedah and the State of Perlis, YBhg. Dato' Haji Mohd Fauzi bin Mustaffa, Kedah State Director of Lands and Mines, YBrs. Tuan Ismasuhaimi bin Sharif, Director of Perlis State Lands and Mines. The session was started by Sr Shabudin bin Saad, Divisional Survey Director (Peninsula Topographic Mapping) as well as Sr Tsalimy bin Abdullah, Kedah State Survey and Mapping Director and Sr Mohd Khairani bin Md Yusop, Perlis State Survey and Mapping Director.

YBrs. Mr. Sr. Mohammad Zaki bin Mohd Ghazali, Director General of Survey and Mapping Malaysia was pleased to attend the session as a sign of strong support for JBT and JUPEM officers who are involved in finalizing the work plan resulting from the marking and measurement of the joint border between the State of Kedah and the State of Perlis. Also present to witness were YBrs. Sr Hazri bin Hassan, Deputy Director General of Surveying and Mapping II, YBrs. Tuan Hazrey bin Tomyang, Secretary of Surveying Division, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) and Sr Powzy bin Mohd Som, Deputy Director of Surveying Division (Boundary Affairs) as well as the JBT Meeting delegation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU-2) on Marking and Measuring Intentions signed on 14 March 2017 has mandated JUPEM to carry out border marking and measuring works. The Taiping Regional Topography Office has successfully completed the measurements that started from 2017 to 2020 and the preparation of 26 sheets of work plans by BPTSM. Congratulations and well done to the staff of the Taiping Regional Topography Office, BPTSM and JBT Kedah-Perlis for this success. It is prayed that the border agreement between the two States will be finalized so that management and administrative supervision as well as development around the border can run smoothly.
