Malaysia, Indonesia sign MoU resolved border issue

The Forty-Third Meeting of the Joint Malaysia-Indonesia Boundary Committee on the Demarcation and Survey of the International Boundary between Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak) and Indonesia (North Kalimantan & West Kalimantan) (JMI-43) was held in Hotel Melia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 19-21 November 2019.

The Malaysian Delegation was led by YBhg. Datuk Zurinah binti Pawanteh, Secretary General, Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources, who is also the Chairman of the National Malaysia-Indonesia Boundary Committee while the Indonesian Delegation was led by Drs. Hadi Prabowo, Secretary General, Ministry of Home Affairs Republic of Indonesia who is also the Chairman of the National Indonesia-Malaysia Boundary Committee. The Meeting was co-chaired by both Heads of Delegation.

During this JMI-43 meeting, both Chairmen of the Joint Boundary Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Demarcation and Survey of the International Boundary between Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak) and Indonesia (Kalimantan Utara & Kalimantan Barat). The MOU resolved two (2) OBPs in Sabah - North Kalimantan Sector, namely the international land boundary near the vicinity of Simantipal River in Pensiangan district and the sub-sector from boundary marker C 500 to boundary marker C 600 in Sipitang district in Sabah.
